Bespoke Creative Writing Workshops for the Mitchelstown Writers' Group

Bunty Flynn says:

Mitchelstown Writers' Group (who meet in Mitchelstown Library) recently completed 3 wonderful workshops with Sheila Quealey. She is a gifted teacher and each member of our group was most enthusiastic in the feedback after each workshop.

Some members were interested in memoir and were guided expertly on what to omit and what to include. Other members found her notes and tips on writing fiction very helpful but all felt that they had grown considerably in their writing capabilities. Her recommended reading material was another area which was very helpful to all of us. Hopefully having a "top up" workshop with Sheila will become a regular date in our diary in the future. Social Conversations: Topics that Matter

A fantastic intergenerational programme discussing the topics that matter in society with a group of students from Coláiste Iósaef , Kilmallock and a group of older people from the local community.

TY Coordinator Michelle Daly says about the programme:

"Our students engaged extremely well with the project. I feel it helped them to understand the older generation in the area and also dispelled preconceived ideas that they may have had. I feel the programme was very well run and facilitated in an informal manner by Sheila, which allowed our students to engage quickly with the concept. The level of interaction and open dialogue was a credit to both Sheila and all of the participants.

I would highly recommend this programme to other students to build their confidence, as well as their social and communication skills with both their peers and older generations. I hope to work with you again in the future, many thanks for all your work Sheila."
